On Thursday, the 6th of September, 2018, Haigazian University inaugurated its newly established Writing Center, located on the 5th floor of its Heritage Building.
The Writing Center, which was established through the English Language Small Grant provided by the US Embassy in Lebanon, will provide Haigazian University students and faculty, through one-on-one sessions with professional tutors, full writing support in English at different writing stages, as stated by the Center’s Director, Ms. Anita Moutchoyan. The Center will also prepare and implement workshops across the curriculum related to academic and professional writing.
At the opening, a delegation from the US Embassy in Lebanon included, the Public Affairs Officer, Ms. Ellen Peterson, the embassy’s current Regional English Language Officer in Manama-Bahrain, Mr. Scott Chiverton, and Cultural Affairs Assistant, Ms. Edith Bitar, in addition to faculty, staff and students.
In her short remarks, Peterson praised Haigazian University’s mission and relayed the embassy’s continuous support in its endeavors, whereas for his part, University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian thanked the embassy and the US people, showing significant appreciation for the American peoples’ support and initiatives.
The ceremony ended with cutting a celebratory cake and a decent reception.
